Workers Day celebrated at Bikita Minerals through sport

Bikita Minerals celebrated the International Workers Day through various sporting activities that include walkathon, marathon, soccer, netball, pool and darts. The events were aimed at enhancing the wellness of the 1360 employees at Bikita Minerals. In a speech read on his behalf Bikita Minerals Vice General manager Mr Jiang said the employer appreciated the work being done by each employee at the mine. Mr Jiang said during the past year the company faced various challenges such as global market competition, but the company managed to increase production, record zero accidents in safety and environmental protection. “Whether they are brothers on the frontline, sweating under the scorching sun in the mines, or the colleagues in the office staying up late to work overtime to ensure the progress of the project, I am deeply moved by everyone’s efforts. You have proved with your actions that ordinary work can also lead to extraordinary achievements. You are the most invaluable asset of the company, he said. Bikita Minerals Mine Manager Mr Mwanza said the employee is an important stakeholder for the organisation and the employee contribution is always valuable. “We want to appreciate the great work that our employer, Sinomine, Bikita Minerals has been doing and continues to do for us as the employees. The company has increased the number of employees five times more since they came through in 2022 and to date, we have 1360 employees directly employed by the company and we have 180 females. The number of females increased from five females to 180 females to date, “he said. Management representative Mr Thomas Mufumi encouraged workers to work in harmoniously and invest in the wellbeing of their families. Employee representative Mr Rodrick Tavarwisa said the May Day was an important day for honouring women and men who work hard every day. “We appreciate our employer for giving us the jobs and I encourage all the employees to work hard and to adhere to the rules and regulations of our employer avoid absenteeism and stealing at work,” Mr Tavarwisa said. Bikita Minerals offered the employees free medical consultation and its partners Nyaradzo, FBC Health, Zimnat Life also graced the occasion. International Workers Day is celebrated in over 80 countries in Zimbabwe with the aim of honouring each and every worker and to appreciate the sacrifices they make each and every day
Gong Appointed Chair of Lithium Producers

Local lithium companies have appointed Bikita Minerals Managing Director Xuedong Gong as the new Chairperson of Lithium Producers Association under the Chamber of Mines Zimbabwe. The Lithium miners overwhelmingly endorsed Xuedong Gong at a meeting held in Harare, month ago. Entities involved in the initiative include Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe, Sabi Star Mine, Gwanda Lithium, Sinomine Bikita Minerals, Kamativi Lithium, Bravura, Kuvimba and Global Lithium Resources. The Lithium Producers Association is an affiliate of Chamber of Mines Zimbabwe, and its mandate is to enhance communication between the lithium miners and local stakeholders including the Government while safeguarding the rights and interests of its members. Mr. Gong has 23 years of experience in mining and smelting engineering project management and production management in the non-ferrous metal industry. He is a professor-level senior engineer and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelors in Engineering, among many other certificates and qualifications that he attained throughout his career.
Bikita Minerals women celebrate International Women’s Day with financial literacy focus

International Women’s Day is commemorated on the 8th of March worldwide and this year’s theme was “For all women and girls, rights, equality and empowerment.” Addressing female employees at the inaugural Bikita Minerals International Women’s Day commemorations Vice General Manager Mr Li Wen said women are the backbone of the company’s operations, the driving force behind the company’s success, and the embodiment of grace under pressure. “Whether on the front lines of production, in the boardroom, or in countless roles you fulfill, you have demonstrated excellence, leadership and unwavering commitment to our shared goals. Beyond your professional contributions, you balance the demands of work and family with remarkable poise, inspiring us all, “he said. Mr Li Wen added that the company believe in the power of diversity and inclusion and the company is committed to fostering an environment where every woman can thrive, grow and achieve her full potential. Vice General Manager, Mrs Makausi said female employees constitute 20percent of its workforce and the number has been growing significantly over the last 3 years which is a testament of Sinomine commitment to gender inclusivity and accelerating progress for women. She said the company’s goal is to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to succeed. ” We recognise that women face unique challenges in the workplace and beyond, and we are committed to providing opportunities for growth, development and advancement,” she said. The event also had presentations from Old Mutual representative Mr Darrean Bhene who spoke about Estate planning and investment and representatives from Stanbic Bank, spoke about financial literacy and personal finance for women. Dr Mungwari made a presentation on mental health issues and etiquette and grooming. The event was attended by over 200 people.
