International Women’s Day is commemorated on the 8th of March worldwide and this year’s theme was “For all women and girls, rights, equality and empowerment.”
Addressing female employees at the inaugural Bikita Minerals International Women’s Day commemorations Vice General Manager Mr Li Wen said women are the backbone of the company’s operations, the driving force behind the company’s success, and the embodiment of grace under pressure.
“Whether on the front lines of production, in the boardroom, or in countless roles you fulfill, you have demonstrated excellence, leadership and unwavering commitment to our shared goals. Beyond your professional contributions, you balance the demands of work and family with remarkable poise, inspiring us all, “he said.
Mr Li Wen added that the company believe in the power of diversity and inclusion and the company is committed to fostering an environment where every woman can thrive, grow and achieve her full potential.
Vice General Manager, Mrs Makausi said female employees constitute 20percent of its workforce and the number has been growing significantly over the last 3 years which is a testament of Sinomine commitment to gender inclusivity and accelerating progress for women.
She said the company’s goal is to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to succeed. ” We recognise that women face unique challenges in the workplace and beyond, and we are committed to providing opportunities for growth, development and advancement,” she said.
The event also had presentations from Old Mutual representative Mr Darrean Bhene who spoke about Estate planning and investment and representatives from Stanbic Bank, spoke about financial literacy and personal finance for women. Dr Mungwari made a presentation on mental health issues and etiquette and grooming. The event was attended by over 200 people.
